Gift of a Bed (Digital download)
A lot of the children sleep on the floor when they return home- they do not have a mattress. Your gift will buy them a mattress so that they will no longer have to sleep on the floor.
We will email you a digital version of the gift certificate and provide the gift to a child living, or formerly living, on the streets in Sierra Leone.

How your gift has helped Laughter Africa children in the past year:
Mabinty is a 19 year old with a disability who was living on the streets in Funkia after she was rejected by her family. Although she is 19 years old, she looks much younger – around 8 years old.
Her mother disowned her, alleging she was evil and accused her of theft, leading to family members distancing themselves. Her family started calling her a “witch.” Mabinty experienced further trauma, having been subjected to assault, resulting in a pregnancy.
To demonstrate the spirit of children on the streets, they had all pulled together whatever money they had to purchase Mabinty a new wheelchair. Before she got the wheelchair, she would just drag her body along the road. We’re so proud of their efforts.
When we met Mabinty in December 2023 - she was four months pregnant, her vulnerability intensified as she was randomly assaulted again, suffering a suspected broken leg.
Fast-forward nearly a year and Mabinty is like a different woman. She is always beaming. She is back living with her mother and we provided her with a bed in February.
Mabinty gave birth to a bouncing baby boy at the beginning of May. We bought her lots of essential items for new born babies as she literally had nothing. She has named the baby, Moses. She is really looking after baby Moses brilliantly and she is a wonderful mother.
In November 2024, we paid for Mabinty to attend vocational school. She is learning hairdressing and is loving it! What was shocking was how hard it was to find a school for Mabinty to attend as unfortunately most schools in Funkia rejected her as they do not have disabled facilities, particularly toilets.
